How to Deep Clean Your House

You saw it, you know you did. That dust bunny behind the couch, and now you can’t get it out of your mind. Now is the time to get rid of those dust bunnies once and for all.

Every few months, you should deep clean your house. Clean the things that you don’t clean regularly, such as light fixtures, baseboards, and window treatments. Use this guide for more information on how to deep clean your home.

How to Deep Clean Your House

Decluttering is the First Step!!

First things first, you have got to get rid of the clutter. Why would you spend time cleaning stuff you don’t really want anyway? Go from room to room and clear out anything that you don’t need. Once you get going, you will realize how much clutter we really have.

Once you declutter, you will already start to feel better about your living space.

Gather Cleaning Supplies

Now that you’ve taken care of the basics, it’s time to get down and dirty.

Before you get started, you need to make sure you have all the cleaning supplies. There’s nothing worse than getting into the cleaning zone just to discover that you don’t have all the supplies you need.

Here’s a basic checklist to get you started:

  • Gloves
  • Cleaning cloths
  • All-purpose antibacterial spray
  • Glass cleaner
  • Toilet bowl cleaner
  • Toilet brush
  • Furniture Polish

Now it’s time to tackle the house, room by room.

Cleaning the Kitchen

Kitchens are known as the heart of the home. They are also the dirtiest and hardest to clean. Let’s be honest, the biggest messes are made in the kitchen.

Start with the countertops. Clean them off and disinfect. If you have specialty countertops, such as granite or marble, you’ll want to use the proper stone care procedures.

Scrub down the appliances and cabinets with disinfectant spray. Spray directly on hard spots and stains to make them easier to wipe.

Empty out your fridge. Wipe down the interior with soapy water and sponge.

Get rid of any old products. Wipe down the inside and outside of the dishwasher as well.

Last is the stove top and ovens. Wipe out what you can.

For the hard, cooked-on messes in the ovens, you will need to either use an oven cleaner or the automatic oven cleaner setting. Just make sure you read the user manual and cleaning directions.

Bathrooms are one of the Worst Places

No one likes cleaning the bathrooms, but it is a necessary part of deep cleaning your house. Start with the toilet. Coat the inside of the toilet with the toilet bowl cleaner. Let it sit for a few minutes, and then scrub the bowl with the toilet brush.

Spray the sink and bathtub with the antibacterial spray. Wipe them down.

However, make sure to use different cloths than what you used on the toilet. You can also use disposable towels to avoid spreading germs. Use the glass cleaner to wipe down any glass surfaces such as mirrors and shower doors.

Deep Cleaning The Rest of the House

Now that you’ve done two hardest areas, the rest of the house will be a piece of cake. Walk through the house wiping down any smudges on the walls, door frames, and baseboards.

Dust any furniture with the polish, wipe down blinds and ceiling fans, sweep and mop the floors, then call it a day.
